We are looking for a motivated and driven Senior Director, HR Business Partner to be an integral member of the team ensuring Wave Life Sciences has the talent, culture, and organizational infrastructure needed to execute on our exciting mission.  In this role, you will serve as a strategic partner and coach to Wave’s Platform Discovery & Research organizations.  By collaborating with the client groups’ leadership to understand their goals, challenges, and workforce requirements, you will have the opportunity to create, implement, and drive talent development, engagement, and retention strategies that align to the client groups’ needs as well as the overarching company strategy.  In addition to working with the assigned client groups, this role will also play an active role in creating, developing, and implementing organizational effectiveness strategies across the organization.  This position reports into the SVP, Head of HR and works closely and collaboratively with the broader HR team.

In this newly created role, you will have many opportunities for business impact.  You will leverage a broad range of skills to drive organizational excellence and add value across multiple HR disciplines.  This includes, but isn’t limited to:

  • Work to enhance team performance and ensure inclusive, empowering, and high-functioning team environments through coaching, facilitation, and creative intervention
  • Design and facilitate workshops and focus groups to enhance team effectiveness, ensuring sessions are actionable and solutions are sustainable.
  • Operate as a trusted sounding board, coach, and problem-solving partner for team leaders and members.
  • Execute core people processes in a way that is efficient, equitable, and empowering for all involved.
  • Act as a trust advisor to managers and employees on performance and other HR-related matters by creating a safe space for support and guidance.
  • Mediate and resolve complex employee relations issues; conduct thorough and objective investigations when necessary.
  • Identify, design, and deliver learning and development initiatives to enhance the capabilities of your assigned client groups, fostering a culture of continuous growth.
  • Implement employee engagement programs (including surveys) that strengthen collaboration, motivation, and a sense of purpose among team members.
  • Advance our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) efforts company-wide through self-education, active engagement in initiatives, and driving the pull-through of DEI concepts into our people processes and all other aspects of how we engage with our talent at Wave.
  • Collaborate with leadership to design effective organizational structures and manage change initiatives and communications smoothly.
  • Develop and implement strategies for organizational effectiveness and efficiency.


  • BS/BA in Business, Human Resources, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with at least 5+ years partnering with leadership on the creation and delivery of HR initiatives

  • Strong business acumen with focus on life sciences and the ability to establish strong relationships with leaders and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively create and drive HR initiatives and strategies aligned to business objectives
  • Proven ability to transition seamlessly from strategic planning to successful execution and delivery on HR initiatives

To best position you for success in this dynamic, embedded role, you are expected to regularly work onsite at least 3x per week, with two of those days from our Cambridge site.
